Injured Atlanta Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte will begin the next phase of his rehab on Monday when he begins a rehab assignment with the Florida Fire Frogs. Inciarte has been sidelined with a lumbar strain since May 14.

Having been out for such a long period of time, Inciarte will likely require several rehab games. Barring a setback with his back issue, it would seem that he would be ready to return shortly after the All-Star break.

The Braves look a bit different since Inciarte went out. Austin Riley replaced Inciarte on the active roster after he was injured and has had a major impact on the Braves offensively hitting .273/.326/.582 with 14 home runs and an OPS+ of 126. Riley took over in left field with Ronald Acuña Jr. sliding over to center.

Inciarte brings a strong defensive acumen but has otherwise struggled at the plate in 2019 hitting .218/.300/.323 in 40 games. At this point a bench role appears likely for Inciarte but will require an additional roster move. Often times, these situations seem to work themselves out but with Inciarte officially returning to the field tonight, the clock is ticking.
