Atlanta Braves outfielder Nick Markakis left in the sixth inning of Friday’s win over the Philadelphia Phillies after he was hit in the wrist by a pitch from Cole Irvin. Markakis exited the game in the bottom half of the inning and was replaced by Charlie Culberson. After the game the news on Markakis wasn’t good as the Braves fear the worst.
"We're not real optimistic."

The team will have another update on Saturday but it appears that Markakis could be headed for the injured list.
"We'll see how it goes. ... It doesn't look good, but you never know."

Markakis re-signed with the club during the offseason but hasn’t been able to duplicate his outstanding 2018. He has however been a solid contributor and has played well of late hitting .333/.380/.455 in July with a wRC+ of 119. He has appeared in 103 games this season and is hitting .286/.358/.431 overall with nine home runs and 22 doubles.
If Markakis does indeed go on the injured list, then that would perhaps open the door for Adam Duvall to return to the major league roster. Duvall has spent the entire season at Gwinnett where he came into Friday hitting .259/.349/.580 with 29 home runs in 93 games.
UPDATE
It appears that Adam Duvall could be headed to Philadelphia.
Adam Duvall was DH tonight for Triple-A Gwinnett, and was pinch-hit for in the 9th inning. He's next man up if Markakis is out, so I'm sure he's headed to Philadelphia to join the #Braves for tomorrow's game.
