Ortega’s slam earns him another start; Acuña, Jr. back at leadoff for first game of Braves-Marlins

Rafael Ortega’s heroics against the Dodgers did not go unnoticed

After Alex Anthopoulos’ recent statement about “going with the hot hand” and using the best 25 players on the roster, it looks like Brian Snitker is following suit.

After Rafael Ortega’s surprising grand slam on Sunday which put the game - and series - against the Dodgers out of reach, he has been upgraded to “hot hand” status and finds himself planted into the Braves’ lineup again. He will bat eighth and man left field.

As expected, the Braves’ top four of Ronald Acuña, Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman, and Josh Donaldson remains consistent. If Snitker is still harboring any ill will against Acuña, Jr. after Sunday’s benching fiasco, it isn’t showing in the lineup. Or maybe Snitker just knows that RAJ tends to pulverize the Marlins.

Marlins skipper Don Mattingly will send out his troops as such:

Dallas Keuchel and Elieser Hernandez will face each other for the second time in 12 days. Last time around, Keuchel had his worst outing as a Brave, while Hernandez had the best outing of his entire career; here’s to hoping those two reverse course tonight.

First pitch is slated for 7:20pm ET.
