The Atlanta Braves have made a roster move before tonight’s game against the Miami Marlins. As expected, Atlanta placed catcher Brian McCann on the 10-day injured list with a left knee sprain and recalled catcher Alex Jackson from Gwinnett.

McCann was removed last night from the game for left knee soreness. Jackson will replace him as the backup catcher. This will be Alex’s second MLB stint as he was summoned from Gwinnett in April. He replaced McCann as the backup catcher then as well. Alex played in three MLB games then, only mustering one walk and no hits in eleven plate appearances. However, he looked very comfortable behind the plate in those outings. In Gwinnett, Jackson has a slash line of .224/.311/.510 with 103 wRC+ and 25 home runs.
For the Braves, this is yet another position player lost to injury. Since the All-Star break, Nick Markakis, Ender Inciarte, Austin Riley, and Dansby Swanson have been felled. The Braves aren’t at our-pet’s-heads-have-fallen-off level yet, but we are getting there.
