The Braves will be back at it this evening with the New York Mets. Except this time, there will be a new face in the lineup. The team announced today that they have signed Francisco Cervelli to a major league contract and his first action will be tonight.
Cervelli was one of the top five catchers in baseball just last season, so this is no small addition for the Braves. Cervelli can handle the bat well for a catcher and is still very good with the glove. The Pirates released him in order to get some younger players more playing time. Cervelli was set to be a free agent at the end of this season.

The Mets were completely stifled by the Braves staff last night as their only run came off a home run hit by Jacob DeGrom. So tonight they’ll search for better luck against another good starter in Max Fried.
