Doolittle, Zimmerman expected to return Sunday
The Washington Nationals will get some reinforcements back when rosters expand on Sunday. First baseman Ryan Zimmerman and reliever Sean Doolittle are both expected to be activated from the injured list in time for Sunday’s game against the Marlins.
Yankees put CC Sabathia back on IL with knee issue
New York Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia is back on the injured list after a recurrence of pain in his right knee. Sabathia will have his knee drained and will receive a cortisone shot. The knee has hampered his performance since the All-Star break where he has posted a 7.77 ERA over six starts.
Red Sox sign Jhoulys Chacin to minor-league deal
Jhoulys Chacin agreed to a minor-league deal with the Red Sox on Saturday. Chacin was Milwaukee’s Opening Day starter but was released last week after he posted a 5.79 ERA in 88 2/3 innings this season.
