Dallas Keuchel looks to continue good stretch against Phillies

Braves look to inch closer towards division title.

MLB: Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

The Atlanta Braves will look to get back on track Wednesday night when they continue their series against the Philadelphia Phillies. Atlanta suffered a 6-5 setback in Tuesday’s matchup thanks to five Philadelphia homers. The Braves will look for better results on Wednesday when Dallas Keuchel takes the hill while riding his best stretch of the season.

Since surrendering eight runs in a start against the Marlins in Miami back on August 8, Keuchel has pitched his best ball of the season allowing three runs combined over his next five starts. He allowed six hits and two walks over six shutout innings against the Nationals in his last outing. He faced the Phillies back on July 2 where he allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings. Keuchel continues to allow base runners but his command has been pinpoint and he is generating plenty of soft contact which has allowed him to be effective.

Philadelphia will counter with right-hander Zach Eflin in Wednesday’s game. Eflin has seen his struggles against Atlanta this season making two starts while allowing 12 earned runs in just 5 2/3 innings. He has demoted to the bullpen in early August but has pitched better since returning to the rotation.

Eflin allowed six hits and two runs over five innings in his last start against the Mets. He has allowed three runs or less in each of his last four starts.

First pitch for Wednesday’s game is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET and can be seen on Fox Sports Southeast.
