Video: Nick Markakis gives an update on injured wrist

Markakis took on-field batting practice for the first time since suffering the injury

Nick Markakis took on the field batting practice Wednesday for the first time since suffering a broken wrist. Markakis met with the media following the BP session.

He indicated that he was a week or two ahead of schedule and that he is feeling good and just trying to get back into the swing of things. He admitted that he was a little nervous before the hitting session but judging by the reaction to those who watched the session, he looked as if he had not missed any time at all.

Markakis said that the hitting session went better than expected and that he has no soreness in the wrist. He repeatedly credited the Braves training staff for getting him in position to return early. While reports suggest that he may return as soon as this weekend in Washington, Markakis said that it is currently a day-to-day process but that he will be soon as long as nothing unexpected pops up.
