A season to forget for left-handed reliever A.J. Minter officially came to an end on Thursday as the Braves placed him on the 60-day injured list with left shoulder inflammation.
The Braves also reinstated left-handed reliever Grant Dayton from the injured list and placed him on the active roster.
Minter, who was injured during a minor car accident in the spring, never found his footing after a breakout campaign in 2018. He struggled to the tune of a 7.06 ERA (4.61 FIP) across 36 appearances and 29 1⁄3 innings with the big league club. He most recently pitched on Tuesday night in Philadelphia and promptly gave up a no-doubt homer to the first batter he faced. Here’s hoping A.J. can get healthy over the winter months and be ready to go for 2020.
Dayton, who appeared in 10 games while working through injury troubles of his own, has impressed in limited duty and has good stuff from the left side. He will join Sean Newcomb and Jerry Blevins as the southpaw options for manager Brian Snitker.
