Nick Markakis, Mike Soroka lead Braves over Nationals, 5-0
Nick Markakis had two hits in his return from the injured list while Mike Soroka turned in a masterful performance on the mound in a 5-0 win by the Braves over the Nationals. Atlanta increases its division lead to 9.5 games over Washington and reduces its magic number to clinch the division to six.
Nick Markakis returns, Johan Camargo lands on IL with shin fracture
As expected, Nick Markakis was activated from the injured list prior to Friday’s game. Markakis missed 43 games with a fractured wrist. The Braves got some bad news on the injury front as well when it was announced that Johan Camargo had been placed on the injured list with a fracture in his right shin. Camargo fouled a pitch off his leg in Philadelphia. The Braves haven’t yet ruled out a return for the playoffs for Camargo but that seems like it could be a stretch at this juncture.

Blake Snell Slated To Return Next Week
The Tampa Bay Rays will get reigning AL Cy Young winner Blake Snell back next Tuesday. Snell is expected to throw about three innings in his return. He has been out since late July when he underwent surgery to remove loose bodies in his elbow.
Max Muncy activated but several Dodgers still hurting
The Los Angeles Dodgers will get Max Muncy back Friday night but are still dealing with injuries to several more key players. Justin Turner will be out of the starting lineup for this weekend’s series against the Mets due to a sprained ankle. Left-hander Rich Hill is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his left knee Monday. It is also unlikely that outfielder Alex Verdugo will be active for the first round of the playoffs. Verdugo has been out for over a month while dealing with lower back issues.
