Nick Markakis: The 2019 Braves possibly ‘the best team I’ve played on’

It has been a storybook season for the Atlanta Braves in many ways as they have overcome a rash of injuries in the second half to clinch their second straight division title. Outfielder Nick Markakis reflected on this season with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Gabe Burns prior to Friday’s game and said that this Braves team may be the best team he has ever played on.

“This team right here is as good as any team I’ve played on, could possibly be the best team I’ve played on,” Markakis said. “Just the mixture of guys we have on this team. We’re all confident in ourselves. We’re confident in each other. Confidence can take you a long way. So the confidence factor is there. The grit is there. Everything is there right now. It’s just a matter of putting it together on the big stage.”
