Atlanta Braves News
Dallas Keuchel allowed two earned runs over six innings but the Atlanta Braves’ offense wasn’t able to get in gear in a 4-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Atlanta falls to 96-61 on the season and will need to win at least four games on their upcoming five-game road trip to secure their first 100-win season since 2003.
Freddie Freeman exited Sunday’s loss to the Giants in the eighth inning due to more elbow soreness. The Braves announced following the game that Freeman will remain behind in Atlanta for treatment while the team travels to Kansas City for a two-game series that gets underway on Tuesday. He is expected to rejoin the team for Friday’s series opener in New York.
The Indians are expecting to have third-baseman Jose Ramirez back in the lineup on Tuesday. Ramirez has been out for a month after undergoing surgery for a broken hamate bone in his right hand. Cleveland is currently a half game back of Tampa Bay for the second wild card spot in the American League.
Red Sox left-handed David Price will undergo surgery on Thursday to remove a cyst from his left wrist. Price had already been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Boston expects him to be completely pain free by the start of spring training.
The Rays unexpectedly got back a key player from injury on Sunday. Brandon Lowe was activated from the injured list and was back in the lineup during Sunday’s loss to the Red Sox. Lowe was originally thought to miss the remainder of the season after suffering a quad injury back in late August.
