Dodgers add Rios, old friend Alex Wood to NLCS roster

Today is the day we will see the Atlanta Braves take on the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. Hold on to your butts.

As we eagerly await the release of the Braves’ roster which, if we are being honest, is unlikely to have any big changes to it over their NLDS roster, word about the Dodgers’ NLCS roster is beginning to leak out.

As expected, Edwin Rios is added back to the roster and he will see significant time in a utility role against the Braves. Rios had been dealing with a groin injury that cost him a spot on the NLDS roster, but it was pretty widely expected that he would be added back to the NLCS roster. The roster casualty for him seems to be Gavin Lux who, despite being the team’s best prospect, has been really bad in 2020.

Also added to the Dodgers’ NLCS roster is old friend Alex Wood. Wood’s star seems to have lost some of its luster in LA, but with the team having to play seven games in seven days potentially, adding an extra arm of the quality of Wood seems like a pretty easy decision. Pinch-runner Terrance Gore lost his roster spot which does kind of stink for the Dodgers as he is a weapon on the basepaths, but with the need for more pitchers and the DH limiting how often offensive subs actually happen, a narrow option like Gore was a luxury that they could not afford.
