The Daily Chop: Bad luck and bad at-bats lead to a Braves-Dodgers Game 7

The Braves just could not get a timely hit when then needed one...or a couple...on Saturday evening.

MLB: NLCS-Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

We have arrived at the best and worst of times...the Braves will be playing a Game 7 against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a berth in the World Series on the line.

Saturday night did not start off well as Max Fried gave up three runs in the first inning, but he did settle down and Braves pitchers did not allow a run the rest of the way. Unfortunately, some really crappy batted ball luck combined with some bad at-bats meant that the Braves would only score one run the rest of the way in a 3-1 loss that forced the aforementioned Game 7.

There is going to be a lot of narrative type things that are going to come out leading up to Game 7, but having to play a Game 7 after being up 3-1 doesn’t feel awesome. However, the Dodgers are insanely good and most thought that this series could go long. With Ian Anderson on the mound and a somewhat rested bullpen, its going to come down to whether or not the offense executes and plays to their potential. If they do, tomorrow could go down in Braves lore in the best possible way. If not...well, lets not talk about that.

Arozarena hits rookie record 7th playoff HR

Randy Arozarena has been insane for the Rays even when the rest of the offense seemingly disappeared for them as the Astros climbed back into that series. On Saturday evening, Arozarena connected for his seventh homer this postseason which set the rookie record for homers by a rookie in the postseason. He has been legitimately insane.

Rays punch their ticket to the World Series with Game 7 win over Astros

In related news, the Rays finally finished off the pesky Astros to secure an appearance in the 2020 World Series thanks in part to the aforementioned Arozarena home run. The Astros hung around until the very end, but could not complete the comeback against Tampa, so we will not find out if the Astros could win a title without the aid of banging on trash cans and sign-stealing...at least not this year.
