Tigers have talked to Braves coach Sal Fasano about open manager position, per report

Other teams are taking notice of the Braves’ success as they are starting to poke around at their coach staff.

One of the side effects of having a successful run in Major League Baseball is that other teams take notice of the executives and coaches that help make that success happen in addition to the players. How often have we seen assistant GMs, bench coaches, etc. from highly successful organizations end up getting poached and promoted by other teams?

Well, while the brain drain from the Braves hasn’t reached Astros or Rays levels just yet, at least one team is looking at a member of the Braves’ coaching staff to help them out at the major league level.

Lets be clear....there is pretty clearly nothing imminent regarding the Tigers’ open managerial position and this could just be as simple as Detroit doing their due diligence, although that Sal Fasano was named specifically in this report is noteworthy. Fasano has been the Braves’ catching coach since 2017.

While some may wonder why the Braves’ catching coach is in demand versus say a more high profile position, it is worth mentioning that Fasano has minor league managing experience from his time in the Angels and Blue Jays organizations. That, combined with Fasano’s reputation from his time with the Braves, seems to be at least getting the Tigers attention.
