It was a long winding road but the Mookie Betts trade is now complete according to a report by ESPN’s Jeff Passan. The deal sat in limbo after several days after the Boston Red Sox were unsatisfied with the medical reports on Twins prospect Brusdar Graterol. That forced the Dodgers and the Red Sox to reconfigure the deal into two separate trades. Los Angeles will acquire Betts and David Price in exchange for outfielder Alex Verdugo, shortstop prospect Jeter Downs and catcher Connor Wong. Additionally, Boston will pay half of the $96 million that remains on Price’s deal.

In a separate deal, the Dodgers will send right-hander Kenta Maeda and cash to Minnesota in exchange for Graterol, another prospect and the 67th pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. However, the expected trade that would have sent Joc Pederson and Ross Stripling to the Angels now appears to be dead according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.
