The Atlanta Braves announced Monday morning that they have extended the contracts of general manager Alex Anthopoulos and manager Brian Snitker along with his coaching staff. Anthopoulos was also promoted to president of baseball operations.
Anthopoulos’ contract was extended through 2024 and he will continue to report directly to Chairman Terry McGuirk.
“I am very pleased that Alex will be leading the Atlanta Braves’ baseball operations for years to come,” McGuirk said. “Since he joined the organization, Alex has continued the winning tradition that Braves fans have come to expect.”
Snitker along with coaches, Sal Fasano, Rick Kranitz, Marty Reed, Kevin Seitzer, Ron Washington, Walt Weiss, Eric Young Sr. and Jose Castro, had their contracts extended through the 2021 season. Snitker took over as interim manager in May of 2016 and was formally announced as the team’s manager in October of that year. He has helped lead the club to back-to-back division titles and a 97-win season in 2019.
“Winning consecutive division titles illustrates the leadership and impact of Brian and his staff,” Anthopoulos said. “We are happy to know they will be leading the Braves through the 2021 season.”
