Nick Markakis has historically been a man of few words but he opened up Tuesday morning at Atlanta Braves Spring Training when asked about the Houston Astros’ sign-stealing scandal that has dominated the offseason.
Markakis didn’t pull any punches saying that he was hurt by it and that he had spent his entire career trying to play the game the right way. He also had some words for MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred saying that he thought the situation was handled wrong.
Markakis is the latest player to sound off on the sign-stealing scandal and to offer his opinion that the punishment issued by Major League Baseball didn’t go far enough.
