Atlanta Braves Hall of Famer Chipper Jones is returning to baseball as an announcer replacing David Ross on ESPN’s “Wednesday Night Baseball” broadcasts per a report by Carroll Walton for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Ross departed the broadcast booth to become the manager of the Chicago Cubs. Chipper will pair with Jon “Boog” Sciambi and will work about 20 games during the upcoming season.

Fans who subscribe to YouTube TV may be able to continue watching the Braves on the streaming service after all. YouTube announced on Thursday that it would drop Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Southeast from its lineup this weekend but later reversed course after a “temporary extension” was reached.

Rays left-hander Blake Snell felt some discomfort in his left elbow the day following his spring debut. He received a cortisone shot and will skip his scheduled start next week. Snell missed two months last season after undergoing surgery to remove loose bodies from his elbow.
The Yankees’ injury woes continue as outfielder Aaron Judge remains in a holding pattern due to shoulder discomfort. Judge will undergo further testing to determine the cause of the lingering discomfort near his right pectoral muscle. Judge has yet to take any outdoor swings since position players reported to camp.
The Los Angeles Dodgers designated right-hander Yadier Alvarez for assignment on Saturday. Alvarez was once a top prospect who received a $16 million bonus from the Dodgers as an international free agent. He has struggled with control issues for the last three seasons and has saw his stock as a prospect diminish.
Speaking of the Dodgers, it was revealed that former pitcher Kenta Maeda asked to be traded. Maeda was originally part of the failed three-team Mookie Betts trade but the Dodgers eventually just sent him to Minnesota in exchange for Brusdar Graterol.
