The Braves have a number of unsettled roster battles, two of which exist within the starting rotation. Felix Hernandez is among a handful of qualified candidates to fill one spot and continued his audition of Monday, holding the Red Sox to just one run across five innings of work. Hernandez managed to drop is ERA to an impressive 1.98 following this outing, which certainly bodes well for the right-hander as he looks to secure an Opening Day roster spot.
Hernandez may not be the flame-throwing ace that he once was, but his ability to limit opposing batters this spring has instilled hope that he may be capable of filling a rotation spot at least until Cole Hamels returns from injury.
