It got lost in the chaos that was Friday but the Atlanta Braves trimmed two more players from their roster as pointed out by The Athletic’s David O’Brien. Both right-hander Patrick Weigel and catcher Alex Jackson were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.
It got overlooked yesterday amid the chaos, but #Braves made two more roster moves: RH Patrick Weigel and catcher Alex Jackson were optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Not much of a surprise with Jackson but Weigel appeared to be in the battle for one of the final spots in the Braves’ bullpen. Weigel was impressive in Grapefruit League play appearing in six games while allowing five hits and two runs in 7 1/3 innings. He struck out eight and walked just one. If he doesn’t open the season in Atlanta, we should see him at some point during the 2020 season.
