While we all await the return of Major League Baseball in some capacity there are differing thoughts on what a potential 2020 season might look like. While Major League Baseball and the Player’s Association have both stated that the hope is to play as many games as possible, we could be in store for significantly shortened season.
One hurdle that will have to be cleared will be that players will need another round of spring training and exhibition games to get themselves ready to play in games that matter. How long of an exhibition season they would need seems to be up for debate. Blue Jays president Mark Shapiro recently told reporters that he thinks teams will need at least four weeks of spring training in order to get ready for the regular season.
“Knowing that so many players are not even having any access to throwing at all or hitting at all, but most importantly just throwing, and probably limited access to just training and exercise, it’s hard to imagine we could get ready in less than four weeks,”
If teams aren’t cleared until mid-May to return to action, then they would be looking for an Opening Day start in mid-June. It is also worth mentioning that teams returning to action in mid-May looks pretty optimistic at this point.

We wrapped up our post spring training roundtable series with a look at who was the biggest disappointment over the early part of Grapefruit League play. The good news is, there wasn’t a large group of answers to this question.
We already knew that Braves relief prospect Corbin Clouse was recovering from some sort of injury. According to this article from the Lansing State Journal, Clouse is at home in Michigan recovering from shoulder surgery.

Carter Stewart made his first appearance for the SoftBank Hawks in an exhibition game on Friday. Stewart allowed one run over five innings while recording five strikeouts and five walks. You can see a nicely edited cut of his performance below.
