These are the nastiest curveballs in baseball
On this list of the five nastiest curveballs in baseball, you will not find any Braves pitchers. Max Fried would seem to qualify as a worthy candidate, though the five who are listed are certainly deserving. Touki Toussaint also has a filthy curveball, but he is omitted as well.
Let’s Remember Some Games: September 11, 1970 and May 20, 1972
Demetrius looks back on two classic Braves games from the 1970’s, which feature a number of notable names, including Hank Aaron. These retrospectives are always entertaining, and especially so when they reference games that include the greatest living player of all time.
One weird fact you may not know for every team
Let’s get weird:
Braves
Plenty of Braves players are in the record books, but Red Barrett has perhaps the strangest reason. On Aug. 10, 1944, Barrett pitched a shutout against the Reds, winning 2-0. The most notable part: Barrett needed a record-low 58 pitches to complete the most efficient game in history.
The game also set a record for shortest nine-inning night game, as it took only one hour and fifteen minutes to complete.
Boone’s heroics to Bartman: 2003 was wild
The Marlins were champions, the Red Sox were left at the altar, and Cubs fans showed what a miserable collection of clowns can do when provoked by the slightest injustice. 2003 was a weird time in baseball history.
Stroman gets work in pitching to Smith in street
60 feet, six inches of separation is close enough in this case, and still abides by the rules of social distancing. Marcus Stroman throwing bullpens in the street during what should be the second week of the regular season is depressing in a sense, but it’s pretty much all we have right now.
