The Braves made roster cuts on Friday, with several high-profile prospects being reassigned to minor league camp. The club also optioned members of the 40-man roster, which somewhat surprisingly included Bryse Wilson and Jacob Webb. While neither player was ever considered anything approaching a lock for the Opening Day roster, their being optioned to minor league camp was noteworthy.
Among the prospects to be reassigned were Bryce Ball, Kyle Muller, Trey Harris, and Braden Shewmake. Ball and Harris were especially impressive during their stints with the major league club, and could certainly be more realistic roster candidates at this time next year. The Braves will certainly be making more cuts over the next couple weeks, and more high-profile prospects will be departing the big club during that time.
One prospect who will be joining the minor league ranks at some point soon is catcher Shea Langeliers. Despite his long odds of contributing at the major league level in 2020, the Baylor alum has been very impressive this spring, and added two hits and two RBI to his totals on Friday. The club may keep Langeliers around for the majority of the month but regardless of his fate this spring, the Braves have to be pleased with the performance they have seen from their highest draftee in the 2019 class.

Chipper dishes on new gig, Riley at third base
Chipper Jones is settling into his new role with ESPN already, providing insight into the abilities that Braves third baseman Austin Riley possesses. Jones also shared a story about being held up by security on his way into the stadium, to which he replied “I’m on the banners... I’m Chipper Jones.” That poor security guard.
