After Friday’s first round of cuts from major league Spring Training camp, the Braves have added one more:
The #Braves today reassigned LHP Chris Nunn to minor league camp. The club now has 54 players on the spring training roster.
— Atlanta Braves (@Braves) March 7, 2020
Nunn made four appearances in Spring Training, totaling three innings. He struck out five, but walked three and hit a batter in the process.
While the Braves aren’t incredibly flush with potential left-handed relief options for their bullpen in 2020, Nunn’s demotion still leaves Chris Rusin, Tucker Davidson, Grant Dayton, A.J. Minter, and Philip Pfeifer in camp as southpaw contenders for one of those roster spots. Rusin and Pfeifer in particular have dominated the same types of opposing backups/prospects that Nunn had faced so far, which may have made the decision easier.
