As we all continue to wait for a return to normalcy during the coronavirus pandemic we may all comes to realize soon that things will never again be as they once were. A new normal may be on the horizon for Minor League Baseball as well. Baseball America’s J.J. Cooper reported Tuesday that MLB and MiLB negotiators are expected to convene on a teleconference on Wednesday and cites multiple sources with knowledge of the negotiations that say MilB will agree to Major League Baseball’s proposal to cut the minor leagues from 160 teams to 120.

MiLB issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying that the reports were “largely inaccurate”, but at this point you have to wonder how much the season shutdown has hurt minor league owners and could have forced their hand.

Expect to hear more of this in the coming days but at this point it will be surprising if the minor leagues don’t look much different for the 2021 season.

Braves News

Ozzie Albies is like everyone else and is waiting for the resume of the 2020 season. In the meantime he is busy spending time working on his swing from both sides of the plate.

Who was the greatest shortstop in Braves history? Probably not who you are expecting at least according to MLB.com’s Mark Bowman.

Tuesday’s flashback traveled back to 2016 and a wild game against the Dodgers.

Our look back at the 1998 Braves and the NLCS continued Tuesday with a thrilling come-from-behind win in Game 5 against the Padres to send the series back to Atlanta.

MLB News

Another potential plan for restarting the 2020 season emerged on Tuesday with MLB discussing a three-state plan including Arizona, Florida and Texas for a potential restart.

We will leave this on a good note as the majority of MLB teams have committed to pay baseball ops staff through the end of May. The Braves were one of the first teams to make such a commitment.
