Commissioner decision on Red Sox investigation

The league handed down a light punishment for the Red Sox’ sign-stealing scandal, stripping them of a second-round pick, suspending their video coordinator for one season, along with Alex Cora for one season. If those punishments sound incredibly light compared to those levied against the Braves in 2017, that’s probably because they are incredibly light. No players were disciplined and no member of the orgnization was banned for life, so essentially Boston cheated their way into a championship with no major recourse. Rob Manfred continues to show his incompetence as it pertains to cheating scandals, not to mention basically every other aspect of the commissioner’s job.

Red Sox lift interim tag from manager Roenicke

In addition to skating by unscathed in the aftermath of their scandal, the Red Sox also named Ron Roenicke their manager in an official manner, removing the interim tag.

An update on the recovery status of Aaron Judge:

Judge said in March that a follow-up CT scan showed “slight healing,” adding that a previously unreported pneumothorax (collapsed lung) has been resolved, so he is able to fly if necessary. While chatting with NBA star Damian Lillard on adidas’ “The Huddle” Instagram Live show, Judge expressed optimism that he could return to swinging and throwing soon.
