The 2020 MLB Draft will look quite different this season as a result of an agreement between the Major League Baseball and the Players Association in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Per the agreement, MLB will set the length of the draft from anywhere from five to 40 rounds. The expectation is that it will be shortened to five although a 10 round scenario has also been mentioned.
MLB.com’s Jim Callis rounded up the bonus pools for every team for the upcoming draft. The Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers will have the largest pools in the draft. Based on a five-round draft, Atlanta will have a bonus pool of $4,114,100 and a $5,039,000 total if it is extended to 10 rounds.
