The Atlanta Braves will try to secure a series win Sunday night when they wrap up a three-game series against the New York Mets at Citi Field. Atlanta dropped the opener 1-0 behind a dominant performance from Jacob deGrom and a home run by Yoenis Cespedes. The Braves appeared to be headed for a 2-1 loss on Saturday before Marcell Ozuna homered off of Edwin Diaz with two outs in the ninth to force extras. The Braves would score three runs in the 10th and would hold on for a 5-3 win.
Sean Newcomb will get the start for the Braves Sunday night and will match up against New York right-hander Rick Porcello. Rookie catcher William Contreras will make his first major league start behind the plate.
Sunday game will be broadcast nationally as part of ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball with Jon Sciambi and Chipper Jones on the call.
