The Atlanta Braves got some more bad news prior to Tuesday’s series opener against the New York Yankees when Ronald Acuña Jr. was scratched from the lineup due to a sore left wrist. MLB.com’s Mark Bowman reported that Acuña experienced soreness in the wrist while hitting on Tuesday and thinks that it was from a slide in a recent game. He is considered day-to-day at the moment but Atlanta can ill-afford to be without him long.

Atlanta’s comeback attempt fell short in a 9-6 loss to the Yankees on Tuesday. Touki Toussaint allowed five earned runs in four innings to take the loss.

After optioning Sean Newcomb on Monday, the Braves recalled Bryse Wilson to take Newcomb’s spot on the active roster. Wilson walked four and allowed two runs in just 1 2/3 innings of relief Tuesday night.

Huascar Ynoa will make another start on Wednesday as the Braves wrap up their series in New York with a bullpen game.

Major League Baseball is reportedly considering a bubble format for the playoffs. Can’t really blame them as the league won’t be able to afford an outbreak by a team in the postseason, provided we make it that far.

Major League Baseball handed out suspensions for the bench clearing brawl that took place in Sunday’s game between the A’s and the Astros. Astros hitting coach Alex Cintron was given a 20-game ban for his role in the brawl. A’s outfielder Ramon Laureano received a six-game suspension.

The Cleveland Indians placed pitchers Zach Plesac and Mike Clevinger on the restricted list after both broke team rules by going out to eat during their recent series in Chicago. Both Plesac and Clevinger will be required to self quarantine for three days.

Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton is expected to miss 3-4 weeks with a hamstring injury.

Sean Newcomb wasn’t the only casualty from Monday’s game against the Phillies. Philadelphia designated outfielder Nick Williams and reliever Trevor Kelley for assignment. They also optioned right-hander Nick Pivetta to their alternate training site.
