This Day in Braves History: August 20
1947 - The Boston Braves go over the million mark in attendance for the first time in their history but lose to the Pirates 16-10 as both teams combine for 34 hits.
1961 - The Braves fall to the Phillies 7-4 in Game 2 of a doubleheader. The win snaps Philadelphia’s 23-game losing streak. The streak was a new record for most consecutive losses by a major league team.
1965 - Eddie Matthews hits his 28th home run to help the Braves to a 4-3 win over Pittsburgh. The duo of Matthews and Hank Aaron become the top home run tandem in major league history passing Babe Ruth/Lou Gehrig with 772 home runs.
2011 - Dan Uggla homers twice and drives in three runs to help the Braves to an 8-1 win over the Diamondbacks.
