The Braves will have a new face on the mound as Ian Anderson will make his major league debut this evening against the New York Yankees. The Braves’ top pitching prospect was the third overall pick in the 2016 Draft and in his minor league career, he has posted a 2.91 ERA with 451 strikeouts and 169 walks in 377.2 innings of work. Anderson’s call-up has been rumored for a while now and with the Braves’ trials and tribulations in the rotation this season, the team has decided to pull the trigger on the electric righty. He faces off against Gerrit Cole who is one of the best pitchers in the entire league and has won 20 straight regular season decisions which seems...scary.

The Braves will have some help in dealing with Cole, though, as Ronald Acuna Jr. is slated to return to the lineup this evening as well. Acuna, after a cold start to the season, was starting to look like his former self before dinging his wrist on a slide at some point and needing to head to the injured list. The Braves have several guys in their lineup that have had success against Cole in small samples in their careers with Dansby, d’Arnaud, Freddie, Duvall, and Matt Adams all having homers off of him in their careers.
