Ian Anderson made his Major League debut on Wednesday and it would be difficult to fathom how the outing could have gone any better. The right-hander kept Yankees batters off-balance all day, displaying impressive command of all his offerings, including his changeup. Anderson carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Luke Voit finally tallied the first hit (and run) for New York with a home run. This did little to cloud an incredible debut for Anderson, which will hopefully serve as the first chapter of a successful career.
Max Fried was equally impressive in the nightcap, allowing just one run in six innings while earning another victory. Fried is now 5-0 on the season and is currently the front-runner in the NL Cy Young race. Freddie Freeman provided all the offense for Atlanta, blasting a two-run homer in the sixth to propel the Braves to a 2-1 win.

As noted above, Anderson was incredible in his debut. The Braves took game one of the doubleheader as Anderson fired six strong innings to go along with three Atlanta homers against Gerrit Cole, including a 473-foot blast from Ronald Acuña to lead off the first inning.

Max Fried was outstanding once again and Freddie Freeman provided late offensive heroics. Fried allowed just one run in six innings and gave way to Mark Melancon, who slammed the door in the seventh.
Soroka upbeat in rehab from Achilles tear
The “other” Braves ace is approaching his rehab with a positive attitude despite the limiting nature of an Achilles injury. Atlanta is lucky to have Soroka and will benefit greatly from his return in 2021, but for now we can all just wish for a speedy recovery.
