Mike Soroka exited the game on Monday after a pop in his lower leg put the young star on his knees next to the mound. The initial assumption was that Soroka had torn his Achilles tendon while attempting to cover first base. The club has yet to confirm the diagnosis, but the Braves are likely to be without their young ace for an extended period based on his reaction. This is just devastating news for Soroka, the Braves, and baseball as a whole as one of the best young arms in the majors will be sidelined for a complete freak injury. Prayers for Mike in his recovery.
Braves News
Mike Soroka exits start against Mets early with an apparent leg injury
I hate this. Just when some semblance of normalcy was coming to the Braves in this stupid year, their ace collapses on the field in pain.
The Braves lost more than just a game on Monday, with Soroka’s much-anticipated duel with Jacob deGrom being cut short. The Braves now eagerly await news on their young star.
Braves commit to pay minor-league players through at least August 31st
Whatever good karma the Braves got from making this gesture, it was apparently not applied to the game on Monday. Seriously, this is great news for all members of the organization in a season that has been unusual everyone involved.
Jhoulys Chacin Outrighted to Alternate Training Site
Another Braves pitcher passes through waivers with no issue. Good, great, grand, wonderful.
Notes: Smith on track; rotation; Albies’ wrist
Mark Bowman provides notes on several hot topics for Braves fans.
As heavy storms passed through the Truist Park area, Smith was throwing live batting practice within one of the stadium’s indoor batting cages. The All-Star reliever will throw a simulated game on Wednesday and possibly make his season debut this weekend in Philadelphia.
