As expected, the Atlanta Braves announced several roster moves Tuesday afternoon prior to their series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays. The context for these moves is to add some fresh arms back to the bullpen that was forced into overtime following Mike Soroka’s injury Tuesday night. Atlanta recalled relievers Chad Sobotka and Huascar Ynoa to the active roster. To make room on the active roster, Atlanta placed Mike Soroka on the 45-day injured list and designated reliever Chris Rusin for assignment.

Sobotka was up briefly after Mike Foltynewicz was designated for assignment but was sent back to the alternate site at Gwinnett without making an appearance. After a solid 2018 showing, Sobotka struggled last season posting a 6.21 ERA (5.56 FIP) in just 29 innings. This will be Ynoa’s first stint on the active roster this season. He appeared in two games in 2019 allowing six runs in three innings.
Rusin was placed on the active roster earlier this week and allowed six hits and three runs in 3 1/3 innings after he was pressed into service following Soroka’s injury Monday night.
