This Day in Braves History: August 5

1973 - Phil Niekro records the first no-hitter for the Braves since moving to Atlanta in a 9-0 win over the Padres. Niekro walked three and struck out four in the game and improves to 11-4 on the season.

1994 - Fred McGriff homers for the Braves in a 16-6 win over the Reds. McGriff becomes the ninth player in major league history to hit 30 or more homers in seven consecutive seasons.

1995 - Marquis Grissom goes 5-for-5 with a walk as the Braves defeat the Expos 9-6. The win increases Atlanta’s lead in the NL East to 11 games over the Phillies.
