We have seen the Atlanta Braves’ farm system transition over the last couple of years as much of their high profile talent has either graduated to the majors or has navigated to the upper levels. They are set up to see another chunk of that talent graduate in 2021, but for now, they still have a talented system overall as illustrated by the inclusion of four prospects in Keith Law’s Top 100 prospect list for 2021 that was released Thursday morning at The Athletic.
It is no surprise that the quartet is headlined by Cristian Pache and Ian Anderson who both played a big part for the Braves in 2020 and are expected to take on even bigger roles in 2021.
Braden Shewmake comes in at No. 64 on Law’s list. Shewmake was impressive in his debut at Rome in 2019 and reportedly held his own at the alternate site in 2020. He could move quickly through system. Catcher William Contreras moved up 24 spots to land at No. 70. Contreras was pressed into service on Opening Weekend and held his own during his short stint with the Braves.
