Whatever random, inanimate object the Braves and their fanbase want to use as a means of motivation, the results speak for themselves.
All kidding aside, in the first two games of the NLCS, the Braves have clearly not played at their best. However, what they have done is make the most of their opportunities, especially late in games. In Game 1, it was Austin Riley. In Game 2, it was Eddie Rosario. Now, the Braves and Dodgers head west as the series shifts to Los Angeles.
Winning Game 1 was ideal, and winning Game 2 is absolutely outstanding. The Dodgers now must beat the Braves in four out of five games to win the series. Of course, this exact same scenario played out last year, in which the Dodgers reeled off three straight to advance after being down three games to one. However, not only is Atlanta’s personnel different this year when it comes to their pitching, but a year later, you can bet this roster remembers what last year felt like.
And they have no desire for history too repeat itself.
Especially with swords, pearls, tomahawk steaks, and if necessary, homefield advantage on their side.
Braves News
- While Rosario played the role of hero, it was Riley and Joc Pederson that continued their consistency in the clutch, as they combined for three RBIs in the victory over the Dodgers.
- Another big key to the Braves victory was third base coach Ron Washington remaining aggressive and putting the pressure on the Dodgers defense.
- Despite their resourcefulness late in games, another key development for both the Braves and Dodgers is that Atlanta’s Game 2 victory occurred while both Max Scherzer and Julio Urias pitched significant amounts in the game. After the contest, Scherzer spoke about how his arm felt fatigued.
- While the Braves are certainly feeling the benefits of big hits like Pederson’s mammoth home run off Scherzer, the Dodgers are not having nearly as much luck finding clutch contributions this series.

- Major League Baseball seems to also be looking at ways to improve the overall experience for minor league ballplayers. In an historical announcement, the league will require its teams to provide housing to their minor league players starting next season.
