Max Scherzer scratched from Game 6 start

Per Jorge Castillo of the LA Times, Max Scherzer has been scratched from his game six start as a result of continued arm fatigue issues that he experienced near the end of his relatively brief 4.1 inning game two start.

Another LA Times reporter, Mike DiGiovanna reports that Scherzer could be available for a potential game seven if the Dodgers win on Saturday, but Walker Buehler would be lined up for that start, so they would have a tough decision to make between the two and presumably would choose the pitcher with less of an injury question to start.

As for the Dodgers’ plan for game six, they have a number of options, coming off an off-day on Friday. Another bullpen game is entirely possible, with Tony Gonsolin and the recently added David Price as options to cover bulk innings. Price was added today in place of Joe Kelly, who exited game five with a bicep injury. The Braves have knocked around Gonsolin both in this series and in last year’s NLCS, however, and David Price hasn’t pitched a competitive inning in almost three weeks, so neither are ideal options.
