Without a doubt, the Braves experienced two occurrences on Tuesday night that could heavily impact the remainder of the World Series.
On the positive side of things, the Braves earned a convincing Game 1 victory on the road to steal homefield advantage from the Astros and seize the momentum before Game 2.
Unfortunately, the Braves will now be without Charlie Morton for the rest of the World Series.
A broken leg will result in Morton being removed and replaced on the Braves roster. His absence will certainly be significant, as perhaps the most noticeable advantage for the Braves entering the World Series against the Astros was experience and track record when it came to the starting rotation. Now with Morton unavailable, that advantage is not as clear.
Yet, that does not mean an advantage no longer exists. With Max Fried on the mound for Game 2 and Ian Anderson likely on the mound for Game 3, the Braves certainly have to like their chances. Furthermore, while it may not seem clear on paper, in reality, the Braves have succeeded due to the production of their bats and bullpen more often than not this postseason. That exact combination, thanks to Jorge Soler, Adam Duvall, A.J. Minter, and Luke Jackson specifically, was the reason the Braves earned a victory last night.
Once again, this is nothing new for the Braves, They have unfortunately had to adjust plans all season long due to unfortunate injuries. The key difference this time around versus previous times is that it now has become normal for Atlanta to deal with, and they also have confidence in knowing they can continue to win if the offense and the relivers perform to their potential.
