Fried is the first Braves pitcher since Kris Medlen in 2013 to take home a Pitcher of the Month honor. His season got off to a tough start as he was tagged for 14 earned runs over his first 11 innings of the injury. To add insult to injury, Fried suffered a hamstring injury while running the bases on April 13 against the Marlins. A start in which he allowed seven earned runs in just four innings.
Fried rounded into form after returning from the injured list on May 5. Since then he has made 25 starts while posting a 1.80 ERA and a 3.97 FIP in 154 2/3 innings.
