Braves sending seven prospects to 2021 Arizona Fall League including Shea Langeliers

For those that thought that there will be no more minor league baseball to follow this year and you were beginning to sink into a depression, fear not...the Arizona Fall League starts up next week. For those that are unaware, the Arizona Fall League is a league where each organization sends six to seven prospects for a little over a month. While many of the prospects sent are guys that missed a lot of time recently and need some extra work, it is also a place where top prospects get some added polish and this year is no different.

There are specific restrictions on players that can be added to the AFL, but we will save that for the Arizona Fall League primer which will be hitting the site before games get underway. That said, the rosters were announced today and the Braves will be well represented.

The Braves will be sending a group of seven players to the Arizona Fall League headlined by top catching prospect Shea Langeliers. While it is a little surprising that Langeliers is going to be playing more after playing so much this past season, the loss of the 2020 season plus the added benefit of getting him some more reps behind the plate calling games likely factored into the decision. In 97 games during the 2021 season, Langeliers slashed .256/.339/.494 with 22 home runs.

Other Braves prospects that will be making the trip include outfielder Jesse Franklin V, RHP Victor Vodnik, RHP Indigo Diaz, RHP William Woods, LHP Jake Higginbotham, and 2021 draftee and infielder Luke Waddell. All of the prospects that the Braves are sending have appeared on top 30 Braves prospects lists at one time or another, so it should be an exciting group to follow.
