The 2021 Grapefruit League season gets underway Sunday afternoon when the Atlanta Braves travel to Port Charlotte to take on the Tampa Bay Rays. The game is scheduled to be a seven-inning contest which is something we will likely see a lot of through the early part of the spring. Kyle Wright will be on the mound for Atlanta while Tampa Bay will counter with right-hander Chris Ellis. Sean Newcomb is also scheduled to throw for Atlanta.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET. There is no TV or streaming option but you can listen in.
A lot of the players that are currently in the bench competition will see action in the opener. Ender Inciarte will lead off and play center field. Dansby Swanson and Austin Riley both get the start at shortstop and third. Pablo Sandoval, Jason Kipnis, Abraham Almonte and Guillermo Heredia are all also in the lineup. Alex Jackson will catch Kyle Wright.
