In the Marcell Ozuna signing euphoria, one bit of business needs to be recognized.

Outfielder Kyle Garlick was designed for assignment by the Braves this evening. There were no empty spots on the 40-man roster, so someone needed to go. Garlick fell on this particular sword. He was acquired two weeks ago off waivers from the Phillies along with Victor Arano.

Garlick was a member of the Dodgers organization until 2020 when he joined the Phillies. Kyle has 3 career home runs in 76 PAs with the Dodgers and Phillies. He had a 114 wRC+ with a .250/.321/.521. However, he is a bit of a boom or bust player, with 25-35% strikeout rates in the high minor league level and major leagues.

What is next for Garlick? If he passed through waivers to get to the Braves, it is likely that he will not resign elsewhere. He will likely attend Spring Training with the Braves and then report to Gwinnett. So we should have him around, and I am looking forward to it.
