The Atlanta Braves made their first roster moves of the Spring trimming 24 players from their spring roster. Six of those players are on the 40-man roster and were optioned to Triple-A, the other 18 have been reassigned to minor league camp.
Those that were optioned to Gwinnett include RHP Victor Arano, LHP Tucker Davidson, RHP Jasseel De La Cruz, LHP Kyle Muller, RHP Chad Sobotka and RHP Patrick Weigel.
No real surprises among that group. Arano has missed most of the last two seasons due to injury and will continue to work his way back. The others all could factor into the situation at the major league level at some point in 2021.

INF, CJ Alexander, INF Bryce Ball, C Logan Brown, LHP Thomas Burrows, OF Justin Dean, OF Travis Demeritte, OF Michael Harris, OF Trey Harris, RHP Daysbel Hernandez, RHP Kurt Hoekstra, RHP Connor Johnstone, RHP Nolan Kingham, LHP Philip Pfeifer, INF Braden Shewmake, RHP Freddy Tarnok, RHP Victor Vodnik, OF Drew Waters and RHP William Woods.
No big surprises among this group either. Some big name prospects on this list headlined by Bryce Ball, Michael Harris, Drew Waters and Braden Shewmake. Harris in particular drew rave reviews from his time in camp and will be one of several interesting players to follow this season.
Notable, Alex Jackson, William Contreras and Shea Langeliers all remain in camp. Jackson and Contreras are both in competition for the back up catcher job behind Travis d’Arnaud.
Following today’s moves, the Braves have 20 pitchers (seven left-handers and 13 right-handers), five catchers, 11 infielders, and seven outfielders in camp. Thirty-four players from the 40-man roster remain, along with eight non-roster invitees.
