Nick Markakis announces his retirement from MLB
The biggest news on Friday for Braves fans oddly enough involved a player that was not under contract for the 2021 season. Nick Markakis decided to end his productive career and spend time with his family. While opinions varied wildly on Markakis at times, there is no question that he put together a hell of a career and we wish him nothing but the best.

MLB Pipeline releases pre-season top 30
As is customary, the Pipeline guys are putting together their pre-season rankings for each organization and the Braves list came out yesterday. Our suspicion is that Michael Harris being ranked at 11 isn’t something that is going to stick for very long.
Braves trim 24 players from spring roster
Our fearless leader Kris Willis has spent a decent bit of time explaining why the usual roster cuts we see during this portion of the spring hadn’t happened (lack of minor league camp, etc.). Predictably, as soon as that reasoned explanation is made...the Braves made roster cuts of a bunch of minor leaguers.
Braves to start with 33% capacity for home games
One of the big factors this season, especially when it comes to team finances, deals with how many fans are going to be allowed in to ballparks and how quickly there will be a return to full capacity. We know at least part of the equation now for the Braves as they are going to start the season with 1⁄3 capacity for home games.
