We are approaching the halfway point of the Grapefruit League season for the Atlanta Braves and there are still decisions that need to be made in regards to their Opening Day roster. Atlanta has brought in a number of players to compete for a bench role and have a lot of arms competing for a spot in the bullpen. Still, 72 percent of SB Nation Reacts voters think that the Braves still need to add another player before the start of the regular season.

Most of Braves fan’s angst centers on the bullpen where the team lost Mark Melancon, Shane Greene and Darren O’Day. Melancon signed with San Diego and O’Day inked a deal with the Yankees. Greene is still available but a lack of interest by other teams seems to be somewhat telling. Atlanta had a very deep bullpen in 2020 and still have Will Smith, Chris Martin, A.J. Minter and Tyler Matzek who are all capable of pitching in high leverage situations.

Still 56 percent of SB Nation Reacts voters think that the Braves need to add another pitcher before Opening Day with just 26 percent having their eye on another hitter.

Braves fans aren’t alone. League wide, 66 percent of SB Nation Reacts voters still think their favorite team needs to add a player. That is probably something that is the case more often than not.

No team really ever has enough pitching and that bears out in the survey results with 51 percent of voters answering that their team needs a pitcher more than any other position.
