One of the more unsettled parts of the Braves’ roster coming into camp this year was its bench. With some key departures combined with the DH getting removed for reasons passing understanding, the bench’s composition both became more important and less settled for the Braves. The solution the team settled on was inviting a ton of guys in to camp and having a battle royale for those available bench spots.
We now know that a couple players will not be winning those spots...at least not for now.
The Braves have optioned OF Guillermo Heredia to the team's alternate site and reassigned INF Ryan Goins to minor league camp.

They now have 38 players left on their camp roster
To say that Guillermo Heredia and Ryan Goins weren’t exactly favorites to land bench spots may be an understatement, but both seemingly showed enough to stay with the organization. Heredia posted a .607 OPS in 25 at-bats this spring while Goins has looked great this spring, but has seemingly lost out to Ehire Adrianza, who has played out of his mind and may have more positional flexibility, for that backup infielder role.
This won’t be the last time we see cuts before the end of camp, but it seems like the bench is starting to come more and more into focus.
