With the Grapefruit League season winding down, the Atlanta Braves will make their final trip to Port Charlotte Sunday for another matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. Charlie Morton will make his final tune up start for Atlanta while Ryan Yarbrough is scheduled to get the start for the Rays.
Morton was one of Atlanta’s key acquisitions this offseason in hopes that he can bring some stability to the starting rotation. He has pitched well so far this spring allowing six hits and one unearned run over 7 1/3 innings. Morton has struck out seven and walked two.
Yarbrough’s last outing against Atlanta didn’t go well as he allowed five hits and five earned runs over four innings. The Rays have already announced that Yarbrough will start the second regular season game on Friday in Miami.
The Braves will roll out most of their regular lineup Sunday with the exception of catcher Travis d’Arnaud. Alex Jackson will start in his place and hit eighth.
