In his pregame media session Tuesday, Brian Snitker provided another update on a pair of injured Braves’ hurlers. Max Fried is currently scheduled to throw a live BP session on Thursday and if all goes well, will be activated to start on Tuesday or Wednesday in Washington against the Nationals. Snitker said that Chris Martin is scheduled to throw another bullpen sometime this week and will then likely work in a pair of sim games at the alternate site. He could be activated at some point next week.
The Braves haven’t listed a starter for Thursday’s series finale against the Cubs and Snitker wasn’t ready to do so on Tuesday either. He did say that they would go with someone who is currently on the roster which means that in all likelihood, it will be some sort of bullpen game. Snitker added that they would probably wait until the conclusion of Wednesday’s game before announcing their plan for Thursday.

Finally, former Braves reliever Jerry Blevins announced his retirement Tuesday. Blevins sat out the 2020 season and was attempting a comeback with the Mets but elected to call it quits after a short stay at the team’s alternate site. Blevins enjoyed a 13-year career with the A’s, Nationals, Mets and Braves.
